Adelaide Botanic High School is the first completely new public high school to be established in South Australia in almost 40 years. Unbound by history it is the first time a South Australian school has fully considered its ‚brand‘ from it’s very inception. The identity sought to unite traditional motifs of education with a sense of progressivism, curiosity and creativity. It was important to convey an appreciation and a value of tradition as well as developing new ways of thinking about how a school can present itself. The brief, developed in close consultation with the school principal, resulted in a modern (yet future-proof) design that communicated the ultimate aim of secondary education—to make today’s learning count in tomorrow’s world.
