The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra is a youth orchestra based in Seville, Spain, consisting of musicians from countries in the Middle East, of Egyptian, Iranian, Israeli, Jordanian, Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian and Spanish background. The orchestra was brought together by Philosopher Edward Said and Conductor Daniel Barenboim.During the development of this project I had the opportunity to visit with musicians at Carnegie Hall, conduct interviews with people from all over the world and study the history of the middle east. We created an identity system, logomark and website for the orchestra that reflected the philosophy of listening, understanding and equality.Darrin Higgins
